Friday calls for a movie night! Justice on Demand wants to highlight “Marshall” which came to the big screen in 2017. It is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
Our series Justice on Demand will highlight films, documentaries, tv shows, and biopics that are historical and have a social justice background. Films are a great way to tell history to the general public.
This Friday, we would like to highlight the 2017 film Marshall, which is currently on Amazon Prime Video. The film stars Chadwick Bozeman as Thurgood Marshall. In this film, we see a depiction of a young Thurgood Marshall who is a part of a legal team for the case of Connecticut v. Joseph Spell. The movie does an excellent job portraying the racial discrimination that Thurgood Marshall faced in the legal field, but most importantly they underscore Marshall as an adept lawyer and determined individual.
We see the hardships that he faced not only in his legal career, but also with his personal life. Movies like Marshall Movie remind us to stand up for what is right even when the world doesn’t agree.
This amazing film also stars Sterling K. Brown , Andra Day, Kate Hudson , Jussie Smollett, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, and Keesha Sharp.
If you’ve already seen this great film, what was your favorite moment? Did you learn anything that you hadn’t before?
